From CHRIS ANUCHA, Port Harcourt
Wife of former chairman of Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mrs. Ebire Ejor Ngowah Ejor, has been murdered in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that some gunmen, suspected to be hired assassins, abducted the victim on July 5, 2015.
Her whereabouts remained unknown, while her abductors never contacted the family for payment of ransom or any other demand. But her lifeless body was later discovered near Eagle Island, a Port Harcourt suburb on July 7, 2015.
The recent killing of Chief Ejor Ngowah Ejor’s wife had added to the long list of victims of senseless killings going on in Rivers State.
Reacting to the killing of Mrs Ejor, Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Felix Obuah, described it as unwarranted, barbaric and shocking to the PDP family.
According to him, the murder of their member’s wife was politically motivated.
Obuah, however, urged the Rivers State Police Command and other relevant security agencies to beef up security in the state.
He also tasked the police to unmask those behind the gruesome murder of Mrs Ejor, and tackle other criminal activities in the state.
The PDP chairman also appealed to the youths, and those involved in acts of kidnapping, killing, cultism, armed robbery and other social vices in the state, to desist from doing so or face the wrath of the law.
